Here's an overview of our past projects. We're always happy to share with you our experiences if you wish to try something yourself!
Students mobilising to clean up Christchurch
The SVA was foundered in 2010 following the devastating Christchurch earthquakes. 11,000 people were mobilised and coordinated to clean up Christchurch by a team of students from the Univeristy of Canterbury. We have collated research, photos, interviews and opinions here for you to use. Please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The Concert, Thanks to Skinny Mobile
We wanted to prove that young people can be mobilised outside a disaster. Together with Skinny Mobile and over 200 other supporters we produced a concert where time, not money purchased a ticket. 4+ hours of volunteer time purchased a ticket to the show creating 50,000 hours of service!
Sharing experiences internationally
SVA Founder Sam Johnson and Foundation Co-Founder Jason Pemberton have traveled extensively with UNESCO, IAVE, UNISDR, corporate partners and youth groups to work with young people in disasters, and share the Christchurch experience.
